Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Pick & Davy
Making more of an oblique reference to the area's former mining heritage than some other nearby pubs, this micro lies just off the Nottingham Road with its numerous other examples of the type. However, this one is unusual because the partly covered patio seating area through which you enter is larger than the fairly basic bar inside. With all six handpumps in use, there were a couple from Oakham plus examples from Blue Monkey, Stancil, Castle Rock as well as Old Sawley's Little Jack (£3.40).

Tucked away from the main road. Quite busy on Saturday afternoon. Bar on left hand side with various hand pumps and taps. Toilets to right. Plenty of outside seating which we used.

Occupying an unsuspected space behind a bathroom centre, this is the latest addition to Eastwood's burgeoning micropub scene. With an appropriate mining theme, there are picks and Davy lamps on the otherwise mostly bare walls. The small bar on the left on entry has six hand pumps (see photos) and there's a welcoming atmosphere. I only had time for a swift half, but was already making plans to add this one to a projected crawl of micros in Eastwood, Kimberley and Hucknall; this has so far been frustrated by strikes on the Northern rail route that serves Langley Mill, but I will be back (one day).
